Look above you the next time you’re in a store or home with in-ceiling speakers, and you’ll find that most models include a trim or what is referred to as a standard design. For higher end or custom designs, you can order trimless models that include micro-flange grilles and an extremely thin trim (0.15") bezel. Hardly noticeable, especially if they are painted to match the ceiling, the micro flange grilles are attached by powerful magnets for easy installation. This is a purely aesthetic design for high-end buildings and homes that strive for a stealthier appearance, but there is no difference in sound quality between a standard or trimless design. Trimless in-ceiling speakers just look really cool—when you can actually see them.
